For many of the lucky ones, there is a time in our lives where we are presented with the opportunity to take our very first SCUBA diving class.  For many, the adventure produces a few more snorkelers than divers.  For some, the adventure ends after the first open water certification.  For others, it takes longer for the SCUBA bug to starve off new divers due to lack of interest, finances, buddy or availability of open water.

But for many, the SCUBA diving desire grows stronger over time. Like a beast inside of us, it grows and takes us to destinations and adventures beyond our wildest imagination.  Whether it is that once-a-year trip to the blue water, diving in your local mud hole, or mortgaging your house to the hilt for that dream liveaboard trip… our inner dive beast must be fed.

I am one of the fortunate ones.

My inner beast appeared early on and I knew diving wasn’t just something I would do once and forget about it.  I’ve experienced more of the world, conquered fears hidden deep within, attempted to learn new languages, learned about patience and travel, and made some amazing, lasting friendships that have enriched my life.

It has now been nearly twenty years since my first dive adventure and only now has my inner dive beast been celebrated externally.  On my 201st dive, according to my dearly beloved dive friends, I earned the right to sport an underwater glow-in-the-dark fairy wand, and tank wings. The beast is now free for all to see.

Enjoy the video below – it exudes fun. But, the cold, hard truth behind the wings celebrates time, adventure, friendship, commitment and true, true joy.  If you’re new to diving, hang in there, you never know when your inner dive beast will be unleashed.
