What to Pack: Caribbean Liveboard

Vacation awaits on your scuba liveaboard adventure.  If you are diving the Caribbean sea, you are about to embark on a world-class adventure for scuba diving!  Eat, sleep, dive and enjoy the most incredible sunsets you will see!

Here are a few things you might want to bring on your trip:

Diving

  • BCD
  • Air Delivery System
  • Mask
  • Spare Mask
  • Fins
  • Snorkel
  • Wetsuit (3mm – 5mm)
  • Hood if you get cold
  • Dive light with tether
  • Log Book
  • Pen

Clothing

  • 2-3 Swim Suits
  • 3-4 T-shirts
  • 1 Pair Socks
  • 3 Pairs underwear
  • 1 Pair boat shoe (they will get wet)
  • 1 Pair dry shoes for travel
  • 1 Pair Fast-Dry Shorts
  • 1 Fast-Dry Water Shirt or Rash Guard
  • 1 Pair pants (for travel or cooler nights)
  • 1 Pair Rain Pants
  • 1 Rain Jacket
  • 1 Pair Sweatpants or warmer pants
  • 1-2 Sweatshirts
  • 1-2 Long-sleeved shirts for sun
    • 1 for travel
  • 1-2 Tank tops
  • 1 Sun hat (baseball cap or a hat that covers your ears)
  • Sunglasses (tether comes in handy)
  • 1 Beanie (you may get cold after repeated days of diving)
  • Ladies:
    • 2 fast-dry cover ups or t-shirts
    • 1-2 dresses
  • Men:
    • Extra shorts

On The Boat

  • 4-6 Lifeline Clips – large enough to clip over a wetsuit, folded over
  • Water bottle or jug for drinking
  • 1-2 Quick dry towels (sham-wow or microfiber) with your name on it
  • Books
  • Music player + headphones
  • Head lamp for close quarters boats
  • If electric on board: power strip
  • Power converters (check what power plugs your boat offers)

Toiletries

  • Seasickness medication
    • Scopolamine patches have to be prescribed, so see your doctor at least 1-2 months in advance)
    • Dramamine or Bonine
    • Wrist bracelets
  • Brush/comb
  • Toothbrush
  • Toothpaste
  • Floss
  • Shave oil (easier than creams)
  • Razors
  • Lotion or coconut oil (the sea can dry your skin)
  • Leave-in conditioner for long hair
  • Chapstick or lip balm
  • Bandaids (water proof)
  • Reef safe sunscreen (biodegradable, non-toxic)
  • Bug spray
  • Nail clippers (if necessary)
  • Deodorant

Extras

  • Certification Card if Already Certified
  • Diving Insurance card (if already certified, and have insurance)
  • Flashlight (tethered preferred)
  • Dry Bag
  • Small bag for shore excursions (reusable grocery bags are great)
  • Money for any shore excursions / souveniers
  • Money for crew tips
  • Camera equipment (underwater or otherwise)
    • Red Filter
    • Tethers
