Reading is a favorite pastime for many, and vacation is an especially great time to break into a good story and escape reality. Here are some of my top adventure books to bring on any dive trip, beach getaway, snorkeling or island vacation.
Island Vacation Books

A based-on-fact story about the discovery of a WWII German U-boat in the Atlantic ocean, off the coast of New Jersey. This book will remind even the most avid divers to take proper precautions when SCUBA diving.
- The Last Dive by Bernie Chowdhury
“A Father and Son’s Fatal Descent into the Ocean’s Depths”. Another story about the WWII German U-boat in the Atlantic ocean. Another fine reminder of setting goals, limits and balancing thrill-seeking with the passion for extreme sports.
- Below by Ryan Lockwood
Frightening, entertaining, and absolutely worth a read if you love science, marine animals and SCUBA diving. The perspective of the book keeps it interesting.
- What Lurks Beneath by Ryan Lockwood
Another fantastic ocean adventure that takes marine science, ROVs, tourists and marine life to a new level. Once again, frightening and entertaining at the same time.
