Dive Site Access

Shore access is easy from Sunny Cove – just park in the lot, set up on the shore and swim out. Also, great camping access from Mustang Ridge camping area is a short walk down to the beach from the north western sites. Boat access is limited with the paddleboard traffic in the heat of summer. Boat access is easy from a houseboat or pontoon, but watch the rocks!

Dive Site Features

Shallow diving at first, drops off to 100′ around the cliff on the west side of the dive site. Huge rock walls offer a nice wall dive if you like the deeper darker part of the site. Or, stay shallow and search for all the things paddleboarders and boats drop. The algae is heavily draped over rocks and ledges, giving this site a bit of an eerie feeling, yet beautiful.

Diver Cautions

So. Much. Fishing. Line. It’s everywhere, with lures attached. Paddlecraft and boat traffic above can be an issue in the summer months. Navigation is imperative here, so be sure you know where you’re going and how to get back before heading out.

What to Bring

Compass, cutting tool, goody bag/fishing lure collector for dropped items, dive buoy and reel.
