Flaming Gorge Dive Site: Mustang Ridge

Dive Site Access

40.9246880333848, -109.44523086564848

Shore or boat access. Parking at the top of the ramp is a really, really, really long walk, so consider dropping your gear at the bottom, then parking. Easy shore entry away from the boat ramp to the north.

Dive Site Features

Shallow, easy diving with the option to go deeper. Younger, smaller fish seem to congregate here, with the occasional large boulder to use for protection. Everything is covered in algae, giving this site a unique diving experience. Early morning dives are the best as the sun lights up the water an incredible shade of gold, and offers the best lighting.

East of the boat ramp
There is a small island that you can swim around when the water is high. Fish do not seem to congregate here as much, but there is a lot of garbage from the boats. Sometimes that garbage is fishing poles, lures and a variety of beers chilled to approximately 56 degrees.

North of the boat ramp
Nice, protected cove with a gentle slope and lots of fish. Large boulders, sandy and rocky bottom with the occasional dead bush and log.

Diver Cautions

This site is near a boat ramp, have your navigation down pat so you do not venture too far south, into the boat ramp. It is safest to venture north along the north rim of Flaming Gorge and come back from there.

What to Bring

Cutting tool, camera, dive buoy, reel, and maybe a goody bag/lure box for any finds you may encounter.
