Cart Creek Bridge

Scuba diving Cart Creek Bridge near Vernal, Utah at Flaming Gorge Reservoir.

Climbing, crawling, making your way through rocks and cliffs while carrying 50-80lbs of scuba diving gear describes the entry into Cart Creek Bridge from the shore.  The popular area is visited frequently by boats, dogs, paddleboarders, swimmers and cliff divers (Do you still want to jump now that you've seen the hidden rocks below the surface?  Please, don't.)  Diving offered a pretty steep wall covered in decades of silt.  Fishing line and lures were present here, but the most unique feature was the arch of an old anchor line. Diving through the rope, which was tethered at both ends simulated the great arch of St Louis Arch, which was an unexpected and fun find.

Continuing back to shore, the smallmouth bass were quite curious about divers and their reflection in the divers' masks.  Overall, a fun dive, but not for everyone.  Be careful if you dive this site - falling is easy, boats are above and help isn't close by.
