Scuba Diving with Search & Rescue Dogs

Scuba diving with search and rescue dogs? Yes, please!

The morning starts with setting up for the day: tents, crates, boats, ropes, chairs, food, scuba gear, safety gear, tanks and the white board with today's agenda.  Several dogs and handlers await their turn as the boat comes to shore, ready for their chance at the water. The noses steer the boat, with dancing paws across the deck in search of the submerged "victim".  The victims are a worthy target as they boast hot dogs, cheese sticks and toys as rewards.

Search and Rescue Breeds

The dog crates lining the shore boast patient German and Anatolian Shepherds, a Poodle, a Weimaraner, some Belgian Malinois and more.  The occasional bell ringing and barking provide an auditory landscape for the next dog in line for their boat ride.  Rope handlers, safety divers and onlookers keep the scene alive with discussion about the dog's performance on the water.  The immersive learning experience is unlike any other.
